Linda Norris trained in Visual Art at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth. She is a painter who began to work in glass eight years ago, drawn by the transformative and elemental nature of the medium. She is especially interested in exploring aspects of the culture and history of landscape and in finding ways to make contemporary artwork using traditional methods. The dialogue which occurs between the contemporary and the traditional when working with glass is central to her work.
Linda has won a number of major awards for her work including The Warm Glass Prize, 2012 and the Adrian Henri Poetry in Art Prize, 2013. In 2015 her work was selected for The British Glass Biennale, and she has exhibited at London Glass Blowing and at Swansea Waterfront Museum. In 2016 she was commissioned by Contemporary Art Society Wales to make a piece of work inspired by the collection for Narberth Museum.
Alongside her studio practice, Linda has pioneered the use of glass for creative participatory projects in community settings, and has a special interest in working with hard-to-reach children and people of all ages with additional learning needs.
